Delicious Cookies.

Have you ever been so busy that you feel like you don't have time to breathe? I have felt that way for the last two weeks. I still feel that way! I feel like I don't ever see Reese anymore. Every night this past week I had something going on, & I just miss him! But this weekend is a great refresher - time to sit, relax, get spiritually edified, spend the whole day together & eat good food [I may or may not have eaten a whole bag of Candy Corn today...]!

First of all today was General Conference & it was amazing. So many wonderful talks from our wonderful Church leaders. I keep a notebook that I take notes in 2x a year at each General Conference. This year I could not write fast enough to keep up with all of the wonderful things being said. The best part is that it isn't over! Tomorrow we get 4 more hours of amazing lessons from great, spiritual Church leaders! I can't wait. If any of you want to come over to my place to watch with us, just let me know!

Then...for the delicious cookies part of the day. I made some tonight. Cookies, I mean. They are chocolate & toffee & divine! [A few of them are Reese's Peanut Butter Cups flavored - it's a new thing I tried, so I hope they are good.]
The yummy stuff.

The dough.
The finished product. They may not be pretty, but they are good!
We are having a potluck thingy-majig on Monday at work & I am taking cookies. So, I figured I'd make them tonight so we could enjoy a few tomorrow - plus I am going to take some over to my neighbors to try & make them like us! Living in an apartment can be so hard & I always feel bad whenever we are loud or obnoxious. So maybe I can earn some brownie cookie points with them. Good idea, right?!

Anyway, the cookies are delicious, my day was fantastic, & I just wanted to pop in and say hello to the bloggy world!

I hope your Saturday was at least half as good as mine was, because then I know it was amazing!!

Enjoy your Sunday!

They Like Me.

So...that job I had two interviews for wants me. I mean, not just in a way that they want to be friends - but they want me!

I got a call today & they offered me the job. It's only been 2 business days since I signed the release for my background check [which seems too fast - I am so boring], & they offered me the job.

It's such an answer to prayers - I have been looking, seeking, & wanting a job for what seems like years now! [If you haven't read the story from the first adventure, you should!] It's been a long & ridiculous battle, but we finally found something that will fit just right.

Everything went much faster than anticipated, worked out really smoothly, & just feels right. I know that God had a hand in this & has helped me to find the right fit for me.

Friday morning at 8:30 I will go to work! I will officially be working & contributing to the community & our household. I feel fantastic! I hope in a week I can report that everything is as good as expected & I love my job. [I'm sure I will!]

My Little Brother.

My younger brother, Chris, inspires me so much. He is in a city called Aix-En-Provence, France right now serving a mission for the LDS Church. His emails always inspire me & help my testimony grow. I want to share his words with you all...

"I have some really neat updates about Sergio (an investigator of the Church).  We met with him 3 times this week and got to know him a lot better.  We were able to have several very spiritual experiences together.  I have grown to have a very deep love and compassion for him even though I haven't known him for that long.  During the course of this week he opened up to us even more about his life.  I don't want to share any personal or sensitive information but what I can tell you is that he has not walked and easy path.  He is currently between jobs and has been without a place to sleep for quite sometime.  As soon as Elder Smith and I learned about his current situation, we began to pray and fast for him.  We began talking with just about everyone we know to see if there was anyone who could offer him a place to sleep while he tries to get back on his feet.  We spoke with many many people but no one was in a position to help us.  Yesterday, near the end of our fast we had the strong feeling that we needed to ask one of our other investigators if she happened to know anyone that could help Sergio.  We called Sophie (our investigator) and she agreed to meet with us.  We prayed together, shared a spiritual thought and then explained his situation to her.  Her reaction was rich with pure charity.  Without even a moments hesitation she offered that he come and stay at her house.  I was so touched.  I knew that it was God who was helping Sergio through Sophie.  With tears in our eyes we called Sergio to tell him the good news.  He was so happy and grateful that he could barely speak.  I'm so grateful for this experience.  I desire with all of my heart to become the kind of person that acts as Christ would act if He were walking among us.  I was so moved by Sophie's Christ-like example.  I know that if we do every single thing that God asks us to do, but have not charity, it is all without worth.  We must be filled with charity so that Christ will recognize us as His own when He returns.  I testify that one of the best ways to show others who Christ is, is to act as He would.  My testimony was deeply strenghtened through this experience.

I love being a missionary.  This is the best thing I have ever done.  I challenge every one of you to do all you can to follow the will of God in your every action.  I invite you to seek His will.  Ask Him what He would have you do.  Pray to Him with a humble heart, being ready to do whatever He asks of you.  And then, once you have your answer, act with courage and faith.  I promise you that if you do God's will, you will be happy.  I know that is true because I have put it to the test.  God loves us deeply and desires to guide us.  He wants us to return and live with Him.  If we ask Him to guide us, He will."

I hope you are all having a fantastic Monday & that if you weren't, this somehow helped.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!

I don't win things. I just don't. I'm awesome enough to, but for some reason I don't.
But I did & now it's my turn to do what I'm supposed to do & pick some more people!
So here we go.

The Rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award & link back to them in your post.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass this award along to 15 recently discovered blogs.

1. Jill over at Jill's World picked me & that is so nice of her. She's great! I love her blog, her sense of humor, her writing style & just her! She's great. Head on over there & check her out!

2.*I love Monster energy drinks. They are delicious, though they don't give me energy.
I could drink one right before bed & be fine. I just love the flavor.
My body doesn't like them so much.
I need to drink lots of water during the day if I plan on having a Monster.
*I sometimes wish I was a little girl, but still an adult at the same time.
Sounds weird, right!?
Well...I LOVE all the little pink girly clothes & blankets,
but I don't want to have to go back to being a kid again.
Maybe I just need to have one someday =)
*I adore Tina Fey.
ADORE her.
She cracks me up. A lot.
My best friend, Camie, [whom I will link to on rule #3] reminds me of her.
Their humor is very similar.
I love to laugh.
*I'm a pretty boring person.
There aren't a lot of things to tell people about myself.
But really, one of them is that I am a boring person.
I love sitting around doing nothing.
Reading, watching tv, playing on the computer, napping, etc.
I love being boring. I'm not complaining about it.
AKA I'm a Mormon.
I have a firm testimony in Jesus Christ & I love Him so much.
I am so grateful for Him & His sacrifice for me.
I don't know who/where I'd be without the amazing gift of repentance.
*I love being married.
I love being a housewife.
I cook dinner almost every night & have it ready & waiting for Reese.
He doesn't require or need that, but I enjoy doing it.
I love to cook & find new recipes.
*I swear.
I try not to.
My mom doesn't like it.
Hell Heck, I don't like it.
But I do it & I can't stop.

I am a new blogger, so every blog is recently discovered my me. But these are all wonderful ladies & you should stop by all of their pages.

So, this post was long & maybe boring to some of you - but I won the award & I passed it along. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

My Brother, Elder Claflin.

As most of you know my brother, Chris, is serving an LDS Mission in France. He is so great. He works so hard & does well spreading the word of God.

We get emails from him every Monday & today's was exceptional. It made me laugh - which is so rare for "Missionary Chris". He's usually very somber & spiritual, but today he had great story to tell that brought tears of laughter to my eyes. I want to share that story with everyone.

"I am loving Aix more and more everyday.  We are continually discovering little nuances about the city everyday and as we do so, my desire to share the gospel deepens.  I have a funny story to share about a couple named Mr. and Mrs. Fernandez.  Last Wednesday my companion and I were out and about talking to people when we met and old man named Mr. Fernandez.  He was incredibly nice and eager to talk to us.  We introduced ourselves but before we could say anything about our message he whipped out his planner and said, "So, when do you wanna come over? ... I hope you can you come this evening because my wife will be there and she'll be eager to meet you."  Amazed and grateful I grabbed my pen and jotted down his address and phone number.  We had high hopes when we arrived at his house about 5 hours later.  He let us right in and introduced us to his wife.  Before inviting us to sit down they insisted on showing us the photos of their 4 children and 6 grandchildren.  They took us on a tour of their walls showing us each photo and, each time, telling a little story about that child.  As we looked at the pictures they had on the walls we noticed that they had a framed picture of the Swiss temple.  We were shocked.  We asked them where the got it and they answered casually that it was a gift from a missionary they had met before.  We thought to ourselves, "wow these people have really been prepared for the gospel!"  Moments later we sat down and said a prayer together.  Just before beginning the lesson we asked them if they, by chance, had a copy of the Book of Mormon.  Mrs. Fernandez said, "yeah, of course, lemme go grab it."  A few seconds later she came back with a book.  But it wasn't just a Book of Mormon, it was a leather triple combo in beautiful leather case.  Again, she told us that it was a gift from a missionary.  She went on to bear her testimony of the Book of Mormon.  She said she had read it several times and knew without question that it was true.  I thought to myself, "WOW!!! This is amazing!!! All that these people need are a set of white clothes and a river."  My companion and I thought it would be better to not beat around the bush and we invited them right then and there to be baptized.  They both chuckled and then looked at each other and smiled, but neither of them answered.  There was a moment of silence and then Mrs. Fernandez said, "Oh, you were serious?  Elder, I'm Sister Fernandez from the ward here in Aix. I was baptized many many years ago."  Haha.  Oh, the joys of being a missionary.  It turns out that Brother Fernandez has been a bit sick lately so they haven't come to church and that's why we hadn't met them.  They figured we were there to give them a blessing.  :)  You're probably saying to yourself, "wow, Elder Claflin must feel really dumb right now."  haha, well you're not too far off.  But luckily God gave me the kind of personality that likes to laugh about things, cause if not I don't know what I'd do.  :)  Missions are so fun."

I love my brother & I am so glad he has kept his sense of humor & can laugh at himself! I hope you are all having a fabulous Monday.

Sunday's Are The Best.

Today was fabulous. I mean, really great. I have been really tired lately. I can't explain it - not just a little tired & "I want to sleep in today", but like going to bed at 8 & sleeping for 12 hours, then taking a nap during the day. I don't know what my problem is.

When my alarm went off at 7:50 this morning I seriously considered turning it off & falling back to sleep. I wanted to go to Church. I love Church, but I was just so dang tired.

I got up, got ready, & went. I am so glad that I did. Church was fantastic today. It is every week though, right? It's kind of silly to say it was extra good, because the Spirit is always there, but I swear - today it was extra good!

Sacrament Meeting was great, it was Testimony meeting & I enjoyed it so much. So many members got up and bore their testimonies & the Spirit was so strong. I could feel Christ's love for all of us. It was wonderful.

Then we went to Sunday School & Reese was the teacher today. I love it when he teaches; he's the best teacher ever [I don't care if I'm a little biased - I love the way he teaches]. The lesson was on Repentance & I just loved it. At the end of the lesson it said something about us asking God for forgiveness everyday & progressing towards perfection. I liked it so much that I typed it up & I'm going to hang it in my room so I can see it every day.

I liked it so much because it has us ask the Lord what we should repent for, instead of us trying to remember & maybe forgetting things. He is the one who knows all & knows what we need to repent for, & I just loved how it was worded.

Relief Society was great. The lesson was on Forgiveness - which totally goes hand in hand with Repentance. It just came around full circle & I felt the Spirit so strongly. The teacher talked about how we must forgive others even when they don't ask for it. She talked about how if we don't forgive it hurts us more than the person we are holding a grudge against. It is so true. There are some people that I am holding grudges towards & they don't even know it. They could care less; we aren't even friends anymore. It's harming me, not them. It is time for me to forgive & forget. Let it go & move past it.

Church was great. So uplifting & edifying. Reese & I cam home, watched a movie, took a nap, ate some dinner, read the Scriptures, & enjoyed our time together. Sunday's really are the best.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I know I sure did & I can't wait to start a new week.

Family, Games, & Releases.

We had another jam packed weekend & we loved it! [Although I would like to sit around on my tushie just once!] Friday morning we headed off to Green River to watch Kyle [Reese's youngest brother] play in a baseball tournament.

We had a blast. Seriously. It was so much fun. 2 games on Friday & 1 on Saturday. Well, technically there were 2 games on Saturday, but we had to get back for church on Sunday morning [more on that later...]

They rocked it in game #1. Kyle is a great player. He consistently hits doubles & he is a fast runner! Oh man! They lost game #2...& it was pretty bad. We were all kind of just waiting for it to be over. Thy won game #3 & #4. It was really fun to spend time with Reese's family [and some of mine, since they are visiting us] & watch some baseball!

The sun was out & it was pretty warm, so we decided to sunscreen it up. It didn't help. My forehead is fried & peeling pretty badly. It looks way disgusting. Reese got burned on half of his face/arm/leg. It's quite attractive. On day two we tried to sit with the sun on the other side of us so he could even out - it didn't work.

Now for Sunday....I have been serving in the Young Women's as the secretary & it has been the best calling I have ever had. I love it so much. All of the girls mean so much to me. We have gotten very close in the last 10 months.

2 weeks ago I got a call from Bishop for Reese & I to come in and talk to him. He let us know that the YW president was getting released, which meant the whole presidency was getting released. He said it wouldn't happen for 2 weeks, so we just needed to keep it to ourselves until then. I smiled, acted strong, & told him how much I had loved working with the girl's.

Then we got in the car to head home. -Oh I should mention that on that day a cyst on my ovary had burst so I was in a lot of pain, already having a really bad day.

I cried as soon as we got into the car. I cried while I walked into my house. I laid down on my bed & cried. In case you haven't gotten the point - I cried a lot. I trust Heavenly Father & I know that He has a plan & that everything happens for a reason, but I was still sad.

2 weeks went by & I thought I had gotten used to the idea of being released...then they said it over the pulpit in Sacrament Meeting. They said it out loud & made it official that I was released. I cried some more. I had to go to the bathroom & cry a little. Gosh dang it! Why can't I just be happy about it? Why can't I just be happy that the girls now have new leaders? Well, I am happy for them. I am so excited that a new group of women get to experience all the great things I experienced. I am just a little, selfishly, sad for myself.

It will pass soon. I know it will. They will give me a new calling & I will [hopefully] love it as much as I loved Young Women's.

Remember to Pray

This is an excerpt from Christopher's latest email. It is so amazing. It helps to remind me to pray & have faith. God has a plan & if things seem like they will not work, or they are too difficult all we need to do is pray & ask Heavenly Father to help us see His plan. Also, most importantly, me need to remember to thank Heavenly Father after he does help us! I am so proud of my little brother & so thankful for the ways he helps me to become a better person every week.

"I would like to share a miracle that happened yesterday.  It may seem "small" to our understanding but I know that it was indeed a miracle and I hope it can help you to see how incredibly capable the Lord is in bringing back His lost sheep.  The story takes place yesterday afternoon.  It was a beautiful bright sunny day.  After eating lunch Elder Pollock and I arrived Felice Road where we had planned on doing some door to door finding.  We entered in the first building and started up the elevator.  We had just exited the elevator and entered in the top floor when our phone rang.  The caller was Pascal, a new investigator who is very interested in the message of the restoration.  He was quite happy to tell us that he had succeeded in changing around his schedule a bit and would be able to meet with us for about 30 minutes if we came right away.  We, of course, accepted and hung up the phone.  We were about the get back in the elevator when the thought came to my mind that there was someone in that building who had been prepared to receive our message.  I asked my companion if we could say a prayer before leaving to see what we should do.  I said a very short, but very heartfelt prayer that went something like this, "God, if it be thy will, please let us see a miracle."  During the prayer I felt very strongly that there was one specific door that we needed to knock on but I also felt we needed to go to Pascal's house.  I knew that if my impression had been correct about that door, that there would be someone behind that door who was waiting to listen to us, but I also knew that if we taught the unknown person behind that door, there we wouldn't have enough time to go to Pascal's house.  In faith we knocked on the door.  We presented our message and how it can help the family to have a lasting peace, joy, and comfort.  To our delight our new friend said, "Wow, that's great.  That sounds very interesting and I would really love to learn more.  But I'm really sorry to say that I'm busy right now and I can't let you in.  Could you please come back tomorrow at 7:30?"  We were all smiles.  We wrote the appointment down, shook his hand and left to Pascals'.  When we got the the bottom of the building we stopped and said a prayer of gratitude.  How easy would it have been for us to have just left the building right after receiving the phone call?  We would have deprived someone of eternally important blessings of the Gospel if we hadn't been listening to and following the Spirit.  This work would be impossible without the Spirit.  He guides us and helps us to do what God would have us do.  I am so grateful that God wants to guide us.  I am so grateful that we can, despite our imperfections and weaknesses, hear and follow the whisperings of the Spirit.  I pray that we can all desire to do God's will for I know that His will is that we be happy.  If we learn to want what God wants we will have learned to be happy.  I am so grateful for the privilege and blessing that I have been given to serve the Lord and my brothers and sisters in Switzerland.  This means everything to me.  I am grateful for the Spirit and the guidance I receive daily.  I love my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ.  They live and love us.
I love you,
Elder Claflin"

Sunday & The Spirit

I didn't sleep well last night & I woke up with a head ache today. I didn't feel well enough to go to Church, but I wanted to go. I prayed & asked for my headache to go away, or at least calm down enough, so that I could go to Church. Wow, what a blessing it was that I went. Today was phenomenal. I am so glad that I didn't let my head ache stop me from going to Church & I am glad I thought to pray & ask Heavenly Father to help me - which He did.

It's Fast Sunday, which means we get to hear all of the wonderful testimonies of the members of our Ward Family. What a wonderful experience that was today. It's great every month, but for some reason it was much more powerful today. People's testimonies were so strong, powerful, & uplifting. The Spirit was so strong in our Chapel. It was contagious, more and more people kept getting up and bearing deep heartfelt testimonies. Quite a few little children got up & bore their testimonies. Those are the best. Little kids are so pure & sweet - I love hearing from them. The Spirit was so strong & I felt wonderful.

After Sacrament Meeting, as I was on my way to class, a Sister in my ward [who I do not know very well] came up to me & told me how she had been worried about me the last couple of weeks thinking I was very sick or something, because she hadn't seen me at Church. Then she told me how her husband had pointed out that I have been here, my hair is just darker now.  We both laughed and I said to her, "Well thanks for being concerned about me. I didn't even know you knew who I was." And then she started to cry. She said, "Oh yes I do know who you are. I am so grateful for you. I talk about you all of the time when I teach my Sunday School class." I was in shock. I had no idea what I could have ever done to make her notice me; to make her be grateful for me. She proceeded to tell me a story from over a year ago [right after our ward boundaries switched & I didn't know anyone], when I had helped her. She had been having a very hard day & was to teach Sunday School for the first time & it was on the anniversary of one her son's death. My calling was in the Primary at the time & one of her sons, a then 5 year old, was in the class that sat behind mine in Sharing Time.  He was begging her to stay with him, telling her that the other kids were mean to him & that he couldn't bear to be there alone. She kept telling him that she had to leave, to go teach her class. I turned around and asked if she would like me to sit with him. She said yes, and I did, & that was that. I had no idea she was having a hard day. I had no idea I was doing something that would help her & make her notice me forever. I just saw a sad little boy & a mother who needed to go, so I helped.  She cried some more and thanked me. I thanked her for telling me & told her I had no idea that I had helped her so much, but I am so grateful that I did.  It was such a wonderful experience. It reminded me to always be on my best behavior, to always try to do what Jesus would do, to be kind to everyone, because you never know who you may be helping or who may be watching you.

Then I went to Sunday School & it was wonderful! It was on The Atonement & it was a great lesson. [Reese taught & I am aware that I can be a little biased, but it truly was wonderful.] We talked about Physical & Spiritual death and how to overcome them. We talked about how Jesus was the only one who could have made that sacrifice for us. We talked about how lucky we are. The lesson is very great. I highly recommend that everyone take some time & read it today. It got me thinking about one of my very favorite hymns. I Stand All Amazed. I love that song so very much. It brings tears to my eyes every time we sing it. When I am having a hard day, or struggling with something I will find myself singing it. [Which is only done in private because my voice is not a public voice.]

Then to Young Women's - the lesson was on Learning to Share the Gospel & it was great! It was so fun to get the girls thinking about ways they can share the Gospel & list some reasons why they don't. The answers for not sharing the Gospel were: Fear, feeling like they lack the knowledge, & not wanting to offend people. Great reasons. I think we all feel some, if not all, of those feelings at one point or another. I have a nonmember friend that I am very close with & I know that I have felt those things at some point. I have prayed & asked for help to get over those fears so that I may share the Gospel. And guess what? Heavenly Father did help me. He answered my prayers & helped me to share the Gospel with my friend [and many others]. Something that Dawna [our YW president & the teacher today] kept bringing up was "If not from me, then from whom?" If we don't teach people, bear our testimonies, & lead our friends to the Gospel then who will? Which made me think of a story Chris shared with us in his email last month. It's so powerful & strong. It really can help us overcome all the fears we have about sharing the gospel. Here it is:

"My story begins many thousands of years ago in the pre-earth life where we dwelt with our Father in Heaven. As we dwelt there we had many close associates and friends. One whom I was very close to was named Paul. Paul and I participated in many of our pre-earth experiences together. We played, attended classes and learned the things our Father wanted us to hear.
On one occasion one of our brothers came and told us that Father wanted all of us to meet together for a special meeting. We were told that he had something that he wanted us to consider. This excited Paul and me very much because we knew that whenever Father talked to us, he would tell us things that would make us very happy. We could always feel how much He loved us when He spoke to us.
We waited with great anticipation for the time of the meeting. The time finally came, and we went and listened as our Father told us that he was pleased with the progress that we, his children, had made as spirits. He desired that we have the opportunity to obtain the joy and happiness that he has received. In order for us to receive that joy and happiness, He was going to create an earth for us to dwell upon and allow us to gain a physical body like He had.
Paul and I looked at each other and smiled; we had heard of this before and wanted it very much. We were also given the opportunity to choose between two plans. After discussing these two plans, Paul and I decided that we were going to follow our elder brother, Jehovah. We felt that His plan was best and that we would gain the most from it. We also had great trust, admiration, and love for our elder brother, who was so much like our Father. We left the meeting very happy and elated and very pleased with our decision and experience in this grand council.
We both had to wait some time until we were able to come to the earth, but this gave us an opportunity to prepare. At long last the moment I had waited for for an eternity came, and I received my assignment. As I opened the letter I thought of the many places and situations to which I could be assigned. Then I read, “you are to go to earth to be the son of John Barrett and Marie Haws, who are living in Hooper, Utah. They are active members of the Church and have been married in the temple.” Wow! Nothing could have been better, and the first thing I wanted to do was tell Paul. I began to look everywhere for him. I could not find him, and none of my brothers or sisters knew where he was.
Finally I found him. He was all alone, sitting with his head in his hands. In my excitement, I ran to him and exclaimed, “Paul, Paul, I received my assignment!” There was something bothering him, but I was not paying attention to that for this was my greatest moment. I said, “I am going to earth to live in Hooper, Utah, near the headquarters of the Church and my parents are members and have been married in the temple. I am entering an eternal family!” Then I came to the realization that even though Paul was trying, he was not sharing my excitement. I sat down and said, “What's the matter, aren't you happy for me?” Then with a tear in his eye, he said, “Greg, I am so happy for you. I received my assignment also. I, too, am going to the earth to live.” He bowed his head and paused, then he said, “My parents aren't members of the Church. They probably don't even know what a temple is.” Then he looked up and with power he said, “Greg you will go down and grow up with the blessing of the gospel. You will have the church. I will not have the guidance of the gospel or the blessings of the gospel. When we get down there, find me. Please find me and explain to me the gospel because I know that if I have the opportunity to hear the gospel, I will accept it. If only I have the opportunity to hear it. So please, Greg, find me.”
Those words, “find me” have rung loud and clear in my ears ever since. Sometimes it has been a still, small voice; while at other times it has been so audible that I would think that there was someone standing behind me.
In May of 1973 I found Paul. What he had said before was true. He did accept the gospel when he heard it, and on May 26, 1973, I baptized Paul. The joy that I felt is beyond my ability to express. Paul came up out of the water and was physically moved by his experience. He took hold of me and expressed his happiness and gratitude. I felt as though I had fulfilled a promise that I had made to him many years before.
Those two words, “find me,” have been a source of motivation to me on my mission. Even though I have found some, the words are still ringing loud and clear. I am striving to answer the call. I am sure this is what the Lord had reference to in Section 18 of the Doctrine and Covenants, when He said, “And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people and bring save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father.”

That story is so powerful. When I think of it I am reminded that I need to be a better member missionary. I need to share my testimony. I need to find my brothers and sisters from the pre-existence & tell them of my testimony & the Gospel. I need to erase my fear! Because, "If not from me, then from whom?"

I am so glad that I went to Church today! I am glad I overcame my head ache & attended all 3 of my meetings. What a blessing to be able to go to Church & come home feeling the way I feel today! I wish everyday could be like this.

My Testimony

This week my brother, Chris, & I challenged each other to read our Patriarchal Blessings every day, & to say a prayer first, ask Heavenly Father to help us see something new, or something that we may need right now, or just to help us be better at following His will. Tuesday was day 1. While reading it two things came to me very strongly. 1: Read the scriptures more. Learn them. Study them. Know them. 2: Share my testimony more often. Say it loud & to many people. So, I decided to write it out & post it on my blog & also actually say it more - bear it to my friends, family, & acquaintances. So, here it is:

I know the Book of Mormon is true. I have read it, prayed about it, asked Heavenly Father & received a strong answer that it is a Testament of Jesus Christ. I know that reading the scriptures daily will enrich & edify one's life. I have experienced it. I have seen my life become better. I have watched & felt as the trials become easy, as they seem to disappear. I have felt Heavenly Father's love for me & for His other children. It has helped me to feel love for others. I have a strong testimony of prayer. I know that Heavenly Father listens & is there. He wants to help us; He is just waiting for us to faithfully come to Him. I know that God gives us trials to help us grow. I know that the more we lean on God & rely on Him through our struggles the easier they will be to bear. I have a firm testimony of the Priesthood & I am so grateful for it in my life. I have experienced amazing blessings by the hand of worthy Priesthood holders. I know they are acting in the name of God with authority. I can feel it. I feel the Spirit when I receive a blessing or when I witness a baptism, confirmation, baby blessing, etc. I know my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that He wants me to return to the Celestial Kingdom to live with Him forever. I know everything He does is out of love. I have a testimony of missionary work. When I read Chris' emails & read the wonderful stories he shares I can feel the Spirit testify that Chris is doing the Lord's work. It makes me want to be a better missionary. I know that when I am prompted to bear my testimony it comes from the Lord & someone will be blessed because of it. It may be me or it may be someone else, but I have faith that Heavenly Father has a plan. I have a testimony of faith. I trust the Lord. I know He has a plan & that if I have faith in Him and the plan that I will be happy. I know that's what I need to do. I know that having faith and trusting the Lord is the way to happiness. I know Thomas S. Monson is an Apostle of God. I know he receives direct revelation from God for all of us. He loves us all & wants us to be righteous and follow God's plan. He is here to help keep us on the Straight & Narrow path. I have a testimony of struggles & triumph. I know that struggles are there to help us learn how to grow & overcome them. I know that because of Christ's great sacrifice I can repent and be made clean. I am so grateful for the Atonement. I know that Jesus loves me & suffered and died for me. I am so grateful for Him & the chance I have because of Him. I have a strong testimony in God, Jesus Christ, & in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that living as righteously as possible will make me the happiest I can be & will also please my Father in Heaven. I know I am not perfect, but I will never stop trying to do all the things I need to do. I will always try to read the scriptures daily, pray daily, go to the Temple often, bear my testimony to others, be kind, be forgiving, & be positive. I am a child of God & I love Him. I am grateful for the testimony I have & for the opportunity to share it. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Sunday Fun-Day!

Today was great! I love Sundays. Especially when I get to enjoy the teachings of Reese =) He got to teach the combined 5th Sunday lesson today. The bishop asked him to speak on missionary work [he is the Ward Mission  Leader]. He had the full hour, the full ward, and every one's full attention. He was a little nervous, but no one could tell - he rocked it. He prepared a wonderful lesson comparing our ward to the waters of Mormon using Mosiah 18 as his reference. It was fantastic. He is a great speaker. When I was telling his family how well he had done Brittany said, "well yeah - he's a Peterson". It's funny, but so true. They may be a little nervous beforehand, but as soon as they get up to the front their nerves are calmed & they know exactly what to say & can say it with ease. I can't do that & I envy it a little, but my kids will be "full Petersons" so they should have that amazing trait! After hearing his lesson I'm fully energized & ready to be a strong member missionary! Chris would be so proud of me!

Right after Church we got in the car & headed to good ol' Cowley for the second time this week [we are so tired of traveling]. Kyle got his Patriarchal Blessing tonight. Wow! What a great experience! I won't say much more than that about it, but I am so glad we were able to be here & enjoy that special Blessing with him. Kyle is a phenomenal person. I look up to him. He is so strong in the Church, he's a leader, a friend, a great brother, & he has a strong testimony. He has his whole life ahead of him & now he knows what he can expect if he lives righteously.

After we got back to the Peterson house we did what we do best - EAT! Oh my gosh! Why does Cresta have to be such a good cook? Can't it stop?! We had so much food. Caramel popcorn, brownies, cookies, sandwiches, chips, etc! The list goes on & on. We ate & played "Hand & Foot" - a classic Peterson game. Lots of fun. Jordan & Brittany won. They claim to always win - we'll have to put that to the test someday. We don't get to play with them enough for us to be ok with them claiming to be the all-time winners! Oh, and of course the boys goofed off. You can't really have any sort of [Peterson] family get-together without siblings reverting back to their youthful ways!

All in all it was a fabulous day & I can't wait until tomorrow!
