We are so lucky to have a place to live. We're grateful, really. It's just hard when it looks like a pile of crap on the outside. I make it nice on the inside - well, I do my best anyway. We have good couches, decorations, & I keep it clean. But the outside-oh the outside, where do I begin?! No one takes care of it. When we moved in we were told the landlord would water, mow, weed, trim, etc. & that it was not our responsibility. We were thrilled! Who wants to take care of a lawn/garden/weeds in a rental? No one, that's who. Especially not us. So we've waited....and waited....and waited for our landlord to actually take care of it & we're still waiting. Ok don't get me wrong, it's not like they never do it - they water it once a week [including the weeds] & mow it once every 6 weeks. Fabulous. So, this morning Reese & I spent about 2 hours outside doing our best to make it look decent. Pulled weeds, shoveled out weed roots, raked the dirt - we did our best. Now we don't have disgusting weeds growing all over the place! But wait, now we just have stupid dirt! Gosh dang it! I suggested that we get some black tarp/plastic & then cover it with gravel or bark - then it would look clean, nice, & tidy, but Reese doesn't want to spend any money. He doesn't want to spend anymore of our time or our money on a RENTAL! Which makes total sense, as soon as he said that I fully agreed with him [even though I'd love it if it looked nicer out there]. But it's frustrating to put time, money & energy into making a rental all wonderful. If only we could buy a house! Wouldn't that be great? We could spend hours on end and lots and lots of money making our dirt look nice =) But, not yet. Not for a while probably. See, we don't know where we're actually going to end up living. The Office Shop can't make up their minds! Riverton? Green River? South Dakota? Who knows?! Seriously, if someone knows please tell me! I would love to buy a house, have a garden, have lawn furniture, make a baby room, have enough kitchen space to bake delicious treats [although I did make some cookies today on my 3 inches of counter space], & do all of the wonderful homeowner things! I know there are hard things that come along with owning a home, but at least it would be ours,
right?! Ahh, someday! Until then I can dream & complain a little =) We are happy where we are, really. We are together. Reese has a good job. We have GREAT friends. We have a clean house. We pay the bills. We eat well. We go out. All of the good & wonderful things we have - we are happy! I am just a little tired from weeding for 2 hours and I wanted to gripe a little. Heck, who knows maybe in a year I will be complaining about all of the hard work it is owning a house! A girl can dream...

Holy my thoughts exactly lately. Wouldn't it be so fun to have your own little piece of earth? That you could do whatEVER you wanted with?! Paint, plant flowers, decorate, remodel, have children, not have neighbors who pound on floors, etc... I'm such a visual person, every time I walk into our lovely brown and pink apartment building with the carpet halfway up the wall... I just want to scream and tear it all down. But it is impractical to throw more money away into a rental. Who knows where we'll end up living, or where you'll end up, but it's all going to happen in the right time, right? Sorry for the sap fest, I've been holding a baby for a while and being VERY reflective. But good for you guys for improving your situation!! Here's to getting to own your own house someday *chink*
Ha ha yeah. Except when it's your own it seems life always gets in the way and you have other things calling your name that need doing...but I do agree renting sucks. But good work dudes! That's a lot of work! And it is fun to decorate and paint and plan and such. Come on over any time you get the urge to plant/weed/beautify. I can totally give you a piece of land that can be just yours!! :)
