Summer & Crafts

So those of you who know me at all, know that I am not one of the crafty people in the world! My mom wasn't [isn't], so it wasn't part of my youth. I never learned how to do any of the really crafty housewife things. Which was totally fine. Back then I could care less! Who needs to waste time inside sewing, quilting, or hot glueing crap together? Not me, that's who! But now that I am a little older and my job title actually is housewife I have started to feel a desire to do more. I can't sew or quilt [I did manage to figure out how to use a hot glue gun]. I don't think I ever will, even though I'd love to. I'd have to buy a sewing machine and then ask someone to teach me. Plus I know basically nothing about using a sewing machine. Bleah! No one would want that job. Although, Reese did teach me how to sew a  button on his shirts =) [go Reese!]

Anyway, I have been venturing out a little bit on the easier stuff - like hot glue, tiles & vinyl, painting pieces of wooden items to hang up on my walls. Last month for my friend, Camie's, baby shower I made some bows for people to wear for one of the games. You may be thinking 'ha, that is so easy.' & you are right, it was so easy - but I didn't know it would be. I hadn't ever bought ribbon [or a hot glue gun]! Last month was my first time ever, but now I can say I am officially a Wyoming resident - I own a gun. [A hot glue gun, but that's just a minor detail.]

So anyway, enough about that! Today, I made a Summer Wreath! I saw the idea on Camie's blog & wanted to do it immediately! We went to the store, picked out ribbon, then got together & she showed me how it's done! Super easy & super fun! Everyone should make one & it only costs about $15 [that's including the purchase of a mini hot glue gun, if you need one].

I started with this...
and this....
And ended up with this!

Many thanks to Camie & Bronwyn for helping me make my flowers.

It really is adorable!!! I might just have to make one. And hooray for girls with non-crafty moms!!! Mine taught me how to use a hammer and a shovel. I bought a sewing machine but have yet to sew an actual straight line. I have yet to start on a glue gun adventure (yours is kind of adorable however).

We can all get together & make your wreath! I have some ribbon you can use =) Also, my glue gun was like 4 bucks at Wal*Mart. That makes it that much better!
